Our 501(c)3 charitable organization works with house owners and Nickel Bros house movers to save houses from demolition, and to generate funds for charitable housing programs.
By accepting donated house structures that are removed from the land they’re on, House Donation Group is receiving personal property, not real estate. When donated, these houses may be counted as charitable, tax deductible* items.
Helping house owners in the Pacific Northwest to get a tax deduction when they donate their houses to be saved, then moved and reused, will help us to save more houses.
Being able to claim a tax deduction for the donation of your house – whether it’s worth $50,000 or $500,000 – makes saving and recycling your home a great idea. Plus we use your contribution to support charitable housing programs for northwest communities, and that helps us all.
Some of the benefits to saving and recycling houses:
• House donor may receive a large tax deduction*
• Cost of demolition is avoided
• Funds are raised to support housing programs
• Good houses are relocated and reused
• Buyers of used houses can save money
• Demolition noise and dust are reduced
• Neighbors see your house being saved, not torn down
• Landfills are not overloaded with demolition waste
• Local streets are not burdened with demolition hauling
Nearly half of the trash generated in America comes from construction sites. In Seattle’s King County, it’s a challenge to deal with the available landfill choices that will be full before long, mostly due to construction and demolition debris. This debris may have been a mansion, or a historic century-old house that was simply in the way of progress. Even when house owners, builders and contractors know that a house can be saved, it’s often faster and easier to demolish it. Many good houses have been destroyed, instead of being reused.
But the House Donation Group now gives house owners good reasons to explore the possibility of recycling their structures. If the house can be economically removed and re-sold, the owner may receive a donation tax deduction* for the value of their house. That’s a definite “win-win”.
House Donation Group is registered as The Creative Solutions Institute and is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization, Federal EIN26-0397601, Washington State UBI# 602-737-191. The charitable contributions that we receive from house donors will be channeled into programs that provide housing support for needy individuals. We’ll donate to support housing programs for the needy that are in the region where the donated house came from. So that the funds generated will help people in the donors’ communities. It’s all part of giving back to the towns where the donors live.
Review the information in our Donate Your House section. Get in touch with us or with Nickel Bros well in advance (3 to 6 months is best) of the date your house needs to be removed from your site. You can also email us at info@housedonationgroup.org, or call Geoff at 206-375-0481.
Thank you.
